How to make riding friends

Starting out as an adult rider, I found it very confronting trying to meet people in the equestrian community.

Looking back to six years ago when my journey with horses started and now, gosh I’m grateful for the amazing relationships I’ve gained!
Some of the tips I think are so helpful for anyone else entering into the equestrian world and those wanting more involvement and shared experience! So…

Top tips
- [ ] Ask questions! Around the stable (if you’re agisting), at clinics, lessons even if you see someone in horse gear at the shops! A little hey 👋 what sort of riding do you like and sharing your interest always sparks new relationships!
- [ ] Volunteer for your local club! This one was so helpful for me not only making friends in horses but also to learn more about the part of the sport I am passionate about.

- [ ] Try and organise rides/ trails/ beach trips or even arena rides with your new pals. It’s such a great and relaxed way to network, get to know each other and have some fun
- [x] Search Instagram 📸 I can’t tell you how many people I’ve met in my local area from finding them on Instagram first! Then by the time I see them, it’s like we’ve known each other for ages!
Having lived and agisted at multiple properties over the years, this without doubt are my best ways to meet some new friends and share the love of our ponies!
