Rachel's story -

At 25, I was feeling as fit and healthy as I'd ever been. That all changed when I felt a lump on my breast.
After numerous doctors appointments and biopsies, I received a phone call to say I had breast cancer.
Everything changed and suddenly I was in and out of appointments, going through fertility treatment before having my ovaries shut down to protect them from treatment, I was spending hours upon hours in a chair receiving chemo and facing decisions I wasn't prepared to make.
I faced six months of chemotherapy, another 6 months of hormone targeted therapy, a double mastectomy followed by three more surgeries and a further five years of daily tablets and monthly injections.
It's hard to face cancer at any age but I struggled with not feeling alone in the difficulties I faced being single and in my 20s.
The day of my double mastectomy was the day they cut out the last 1mm of cancer from my body.
I know my priorities now and live life for the experiences of doing the things I love and enjoy.
