South Africa Donation Drive

I was lucky enough to be able to head to South Africa last month, and I packed as little as possible so I could fit as much ERA apparel into my bag as possible.

I reached out to a couple charities and was able to visit and donate over $1400 worth of apparel to these ever so deserving charities.

First, we stopped off at Earth Centre who are based in Johannesburg.

They offer children with disabilities to change to ride their horses weekly to help with their wellbeing. The movement of a horse actually simulates the motion of walking, so it is a great way to help children in wheelchairs strengthen their hips.

I was able to watch a school having their therapy session and it was amazing! the kids looked so happy. This is something they are able to offer multiple schools in the area for free. They use donations, volunteer staff and run riding lessons on weekends to cover costs. I hope the horses and volunteers are happy with their new ERA gear.

Secondly, we flew to Cape town and went to visit Sivale Stables that run an Off the Track rehoming organisation. They have horses boarded on the property that helps pay for the care of the ex-race horses they are trying to re-home. All get re-training, ridden in a rope halter and ridden at least 4 days a week to get them ready for their new life. They take 6-7 OTTB's at a time and rely on volunteers and donations to continue running this program.

Lastly, we met with the owner of Tom Ro Haven
